A total of 1041 people participated in the charity run or walk along the MacLehose trail. The event has already raised over HK$ 300,000 for the School\u2019s 2016-17 charity partners \u2013 The Crossroads Foundation, InspiringHK Sports Foundation, Plastic Free Seas, Operation Smile, Pencils of Promise, and The Society for Community Organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Long Ducker is one of the charitable traditions taken from Harrow School in England. Every year at Harrow School, boys, teachers, Old Harrovians and parents combine to organise and undertake a charity sponsored run, the Long Ducker. Symbolically it takes place along one of John Lyon\u2019s roads, the Harrow Road from Marble Arch in central London to Harrow. The Hong Kong &#8216;twist&#8217; now takes place along a 16.5km route on the MacLehose trail that runs immediately behind the School campus, with an alternative shorter route that allows participation of students and their families from the youngest in Early Years to the oldest in Y13, both walking and running. This year, 59 people ran the Long Ducker, 269 walked the Long Ducker and 689 walked the Short Ducker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the afternoon, the huge community celebration at the School, again, showed the talents of our parent community. <em>Friends of Harrow<\/em> coordinated with parents to deliver an amazing range of international cuisine, lending a lively carnival atmosphere to the afternoon. The authentic food and drinks, live music and fun games and activities all contributed to a thoroughly relaxed and enjoyable day out for the entire school community. Many of our Upper School students played important roles in providing some excellent afternoon activities, often taking the initiative to create and organise them. Our musicians added huge value to the event with an excellent repertoire involving a considerable number of performers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The School hopes to continue the charity tradition of Harrow School in England, and further develop our charity projects to make a difference in Hong Kong and around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">News<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Harrow International School Hong Kong and its parents\u2019 association, Friends of Harrow, co-organised the 5th Long Ducker on Saturday 11th March 2017.
