During the evening of Friday 4 March, St John’s Cathedral in Central filled with students, staff and parents for Harrow Hong Kong’s largest and most ambitious musical event to date. In the first half, the concert opened with a performance of Anvil Chorus by Verdi <\/em>conducted by Mr Nigel Penfold. This was followed by the School’s Director of Music, Mr James Thomas, conducting the School Orchestra playing the first movement of Symphony No.5<\/em> by Schubert and Little Suite No.2<\/em> by Malcolm Arnold, which gave the percussion section a chance to shine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the interval, the School Choir, the Harrow International Choral Society (HICS) and a professional orchestra playing alongside some of our own students  joined four accomplished soloists to perform the Requiem Mass in D Minor <\/em>by Mozart. The HICS, founded by James Thomas in September 2015 and composed of students, staff and parents, has proved an excellent example of how choral music can unite, challenge and reward singers of every age and ability. The concert was a huge undertaking for such a young school and the quality of music performed was testament to the skill and hard work of all those involved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
