Mr Ross Stokley <\/strong> House Master of Churchill, Teacher of Physical Education<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n
Mr Stokley grew up in Bedfordshire and attended Bedford School before completing his Undergraduate Degree in Psychology followed by a Master’s Degree in Applied Sports and Exercise Science. He spent his former years coaching sport across the UK and Europe before moving to Asia and deciding to pursue a career in education and completing his PGCE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Stokley moved to Harrow Hong Kong with his wife, Michelle, in August 2018 and teaches Physical Education as well as being the Head of Tennis. Mr Stokley is very passionate about pastoral care and took on the role as Assistant House Master of Churchill House in August 2020 and has enjoyed the vibrancy of the House and the mutual support that the boys in Churchill House offer one another. The House demonstrates a real sense of community and Mr Stokley was proud to take over as the House Master of the House in August 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Outside of teaching, Mr Stokley enjoys playing a variety of sports, hiking, travelling, and most of all spending time with his wife, Michelle and son, Joshua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Dominic Berner <\/strong> House Master of Peel, Teacher of Philosophy and Religious Studies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n
Mr Berner was raised in London, and attended Ampleforth College, a global and prestigious boarding school in North Yorkshire. Prior to University, he spent six months teaching English and working in pastoral care at San Lorenzo School in Santiago, Chile. Mr Berner was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Theology at the University of Durham, before subsequently completing his Postgraduate Certificate of Education at Bangor University in Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Berner has spent the majority of his teaching career in an all-boys environment, most recently at Loughborough Grammar School. Here he played a lead role in promoting character education in teenage boys, as well as leading in several areas of the school.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In addition to his teaching career, Mr Berner has worked for a Minister of Parliament at Westminster. This led to a role at the Football Association at Wembley where he was responsible for Public Affairs and International Relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Berner is entering his seventhth year at Harrow Hong Kong, and his thirdd year as House Master of Peel House. He lives with his wife Lauren who is Deputy Head of Lower School, and his two sons, Ignatius and Aurelio. He prides himself on running the House with a family feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Berner is a keen sportsman, having raced in several Ironman triathlons in Europe and Asia. He has also completed Hong Kong\u2019s very own Maclehose Trail within 24 hours.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Mr Robert Powell <\/strong> House Master of Shaftesbury, Teacher of Chemistry<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n
Mr Powell studied his Masters in Chemistry at the University of Oxford, with a year of research in organic Chemistry, before completing his teacher training at the University of Manchester. Since then, he has worked at the King David High School, Manchester as a form tutor in both Year 7 and Year 12, before being appointed Head of Year 9. During that role, he was inspired by the challenges and variety of pastoral work in schools and valued the positive and productive relationships formed between pupils, staff and parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Powell has increased his knowledge, skills and understanding of a variety of topics that are important with pastoral work, particularly regarding pupils\u2019 mental health and leadership. He holds a Youth Mental Health First Aid certificate, and has contributed to whole-School projects and ideas supporting the wellbeing of the wider Harrow Hong Kong community.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

When not at Harrow Hong Kong, Mr Powell is particularly interested in hiking, yoga and swimming, and he has learnt a small amount of Cantonese. He has greatly enjoyed the opportunities for travel that living and working in Hong Kong provides, and took time over the past few years to fully explore Hong Kong and other countries in the region.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Mr Oliver Paulin <\/strong> House Master of Sun, Teacher of French<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n
Mr Paulin grew up in Cambridge, before moving to Manchester where he read European Studies and Modern Languages at University. After completing his PGCE he moved to France, where he worked and taught for four years. Returning to the UK, Oliver worked in Milton Keynes for a number of years teaching French and German before he and his family decided to move abroad. Oliver taught in Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Thailand before joining Harrow Hong Kong as House Master of Sun House and teacher of French.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Paulin and his wife, Val\u00e9rie, who is a French teacher as well as a counsellor, live with their two children, Leo and Laura. They all enjoy exploring Hong Kong and the surrounding regions. Outside of school, Mr Paulin tries to keep fit and is an enthusiastic cyclist.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Mrs Kirsty Wilson<\/strong> House Mistress of Gellhorn, Teacher of Physical Education<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n
Born and raised in Scotland, Mrs Wilson went on to complete University in Auckland, New Zealand. She developed her passion for Health and Physical Education in a school rich in culture and community spirit on Auckland\u2019s North Shore before travelling through Europe and Asia and finishing in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mrs Wilson joined Harrow Hong Kong in August 2015 as a Physical Education teacher where she is heavily involved in the Swimming team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In recent years Health and Wellbeing have become a focal point for Mrs Wilson, where she has put the Wellbeing of the pupils at the forefront. Having previously been Assistant House Mistress and House Mistress of Wu House, Mrs Wilson is very much looking forward to setting up Lyon as the first boys\u2019 Prep Day House in August 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With three young children life is busy but she has a love for health, fitness, cooking and travel.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
Mrs Gillian Nightingale <\/strong> Senior School House Mistress and Teacher of Physics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs Nightingale completed an honours degree in Medical Biochemistry at the University of Sheffield in 2005. She began working in surgical sales for Covidien Healthcare, specialising in cardiac sutures and later hernia repair before moving into education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Having always had a passion for Physics and a desire to work with children, Mrs Nightingale decided to join the Physics Enhancement Programme at Loughborough University which trained her as a specialist Physics teacher. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

She then went on to complete a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in July 2009 and a Master of Science in Science Education in 2014, both at Loughborough University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mrs Nightingale\u2019s first role of Physics teacher at Nottingham High School for Girls ended in 2011 when her husband\u2019s job secondment took them to Xiamen, China for two years. This experience led Mrs Nightingale to a passion for the exploring the Far East and working with children with English as an additional language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During her six years at Loughborough High School in England, she worked as a Teacher of Physics and a rotational Head of Years 10 and 11. She was able to pursue her love of winter sports and the outdoors, running a number of European and US ski trips, regularly volunteering with DofE and organising a number of school cross-curricular enrichment weeks. Mrs Nightingale has also had the opportunity to write and produce resources for Kognity, Pearson and Cambridge International publishing groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mrs Nightingale has three children, Alex,Eliza and Isabelle,with her husband James. As a family they are committed to promoting a warm and caring atmosphere for all pupils in Keller House.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Mrs. Lee Collins <\/strong> House Mistress of Wu, Teacher of Drama<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After finishing her studies at the University of Sydney, Ms Collins worked in schools in London and Cairo and travelled extensively around Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Having spent most of her teaching career in an international setting, Ms Collins is energised by environments where there is a rich diversity of backgrounds and cultures; this is something that she particularly values about living and working in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ms Collins joined Harrow Hong Kong in August 2014 as an English and Drama teacher and has directed many of the School\u2019s productions. She feels extremely privileged to teach and work with the School\u2019s creative and imaginative young people both inside and outside the classroom. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

While passionate about English and Drama, she strongly believes that education should foster young people\u2019s natural desire for adventure, fun and collaboration, and that schools should balance high expectations with supportive structures. As such, she loves the vibrant creativity of the pupils in Wu House and the genuine sense of community, kindness and House spirit that fills the Common Room; the pupils who make up the House truly are \u2018SuperWumen\u2019!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Passionate about theatre and literature, Ms Collins enjoys creating and watching performance-based theatre and is an avid reader and writer. She also loves hiking, camping and travel.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Mr Manoo Murthy<\/strong> House Master of Anderson, Teacher of Mathematics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n
Mr Murthy grew up in a suburb of San Diego, California, before completing his undergraduate degree in Economics with a minor in Public Affairs at the University of California, Los Angeles. Having decided during his studies that he wanted to become a mathematics teacher, Mr Murthy began his career teaching English as a Second Language in California before moving to Thailand, where he taught mathematics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He later moved to Birmingham in the United Kingdom, completing his Postgraduate Diploma in Secondary Mathematics Education at the University of Birmingham. Mr Murthy went on to teach for seven years at Bishop Ullathorne Catholic School in Coventry. During his time in the UK, he completed the National Professional Qualification in Leading Behaviour and Culture and held the positions of Mathematics Teacher, Deputy Key Stage 4 Leader, and EDIJ Coordinator. Prior to taking up the role of House Master of Anderson in Harrow Hong Kong, Mr Murthy served as Assistant House Master of Fry House, a role from which he gained invaluable experience and insight into pastoral leadership.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
Mr Murthy believes that \u201chappy people learn best,\u201d and therefore strong pastoral care is the foundation of learning. Mr Murthy hopes that Anderson House will be a place where pupils feel happy, safe and confident enough to take risks and grow into their potential. He is keen for pupils to adopt a process-focused approach to learning and to develop a genuine love of learning. He hopes that all pupils in Anderson feel the sense of community described by the motto: \u201cOne House, One Heart.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Murthy is delighted to be joined at Harrow Hong Kong by his wife, Ms Zhou, a Teacher of Economics. Outside of school, he enjoys dancing, basketball and running.
